Park History
In 1999, the Town of Rayside-Balfour dedicated the park in the community of
Azilda to the memory of Sgt. Rick McDonald, a Regional Police officer who was tragically killed in the line of duty. Rick was an active organizer and participated in community sports.
Rick's brother Danny was instrumental in carrying on his brother's memory by organizing annual ball tournaments. He was also a member of the Azilda LTBK committee when he suddenly passed away in a motor vehicle accident.
The committee has decided to honor both brothers in the revitalization of the park.
PARK DESCRIPTION
The park is located in the center of the community at the corner of Notre Dame and Champlain Streets.
Presently the park consists of:
- 3 baseball fields
- a small children's play structure
- Basketball court
OBJECTIVES
The community of Azilda has identified the necessity of an outdoor environment that can be enjoyed by all residents. The LTBK committee has endorsed the following revisions to the park area.
