Let Them Be Kids Worldwide Initiative - Guatemala
The Let Them Be Kids Initiative is a first of its kind. This worldwide program helps communities build capacity and community involvement amongst citizens, while also building playgrounds in areas of need and laying a strong foundation for a brighter tomorrow for all.

Many challenges faced by the team:
- playground identified for the playground was not available one month before the project had to ship
- the team had to source, remove and retrofit two playgrounds in one month
- the container was not released by local authorities while the team of twenty-five were on site
- a second trip with a team of eight had to be organized to install the playground
While there were challenges, significant opportunities also occurred. Strathcona County made a playground available on short notice. Someone heard of the need for a playground who worked for a construction company that was going to bull doze a playground the next day. The team had to organize quickly to remove the playground. On the first trip, the team had time to prepare retaining walls to contain the site. Monsoon rains washed everything else in the area away, but the playground site remained untouched.
