LTBK Project– East iew public School Playground Build: R.M. Moore Public School, Sault Ste. Marie, ON

Come Be A Part of the
East View Public School Extreme Makeover

THE BACKGROUND

East View Public School
Saturday, May 24th, 8:00 – 2:30
75 Arizona Ave.

The school councils, from East View and R.M. Moore Public Schools, have decided that they would like their children to have a safe, revitalized playground for the future of their neighbourhoods. This joint project will bridge East and West allowing both schools to learn about the culture and ways at either end of the city of Sault Ste. Marie.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Families will choose to remain in the neighbourhood. Once parents are able to get a leg up, they will purchase and keep children at East View for their elementary careers. East View will be a school of choice.
  2. Families and students will be proud of their school. A culture of school spirit, ownership and responsibility will be observed at school and in the community.
  3. Parent participation at East View will increase. We know that increased parent involvement increases student achievement in school. We also recognize that not all parents have had pleasant school experiences. Constructing this playground will be a positive partnership between parents and school.

In one day, the following will transform East View Public School:

We need your help with the following areas:

  1. trim the shrubs and revitalize the front garden
  2. trim the trees and revitalize the Henderson Courtyard – new grass and walkway.
  3. weed and upgrade the baseball diamonds(3) and straighten backstop
  4. add trees and shrubs to the area around the new playground equipment
  5. paint line on the basketball court
  6. cull outdated books from the school library

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP

We could use your help in the following areas:

  1. financial donations
  2. in-kind donations including: bottled water good soil, trees/shrubs, sod, shovels, rakes, paint and newer books for the library.
