Let Them Be Kids Worldwide Initiative - Trinidad & Tobago
The Let Them Be Kids Initiative is a first of its kind. This worldwide program helps communities build capacity and community involvement amongst citizens, while also building playgrounds in areas of need and laying a strong foundation for a brighter tomorrow for all.

Trinidad & Tobago LTBK Projects
This trip was a group of professionals that volunteered their time and energy by participating in a playground build in the country of Trinidad. The team arrived to find the playground site a huge mound of dirt, stones, garbage and debris. After spending a day trying to level it by hand, and only making a dent in the pile, they were able to rent a bulldozer and it was leveled in an afternoon. It was a good thing we did this because the very next day, the rain came. It rained for 2-3 days straight, and by the end of it the field was flooded. After it dried to a degree that was workable, the construction of the playground went quickly and efficiently. Our hosts were incredible as they had to drive us 45 minutes there and back throughout the day. The encouraging factor of this build was seeing the community come out and help; whether it was painting, digging, lifting, or wheeling dirt, they where there. The community took ownership and great pride of the playground. Everyone was there to help.
The climax of the trip was at the grand opening of the playground. We were able to synchronize the timing with Samaritans Purse. As we opened the playground, Samaritans Purse handed out Christmas shoe boxes to over 500 children. It was an incredible day, filled with tons of laughter and smiles; definitely a Christmas to remember.

Our first project was a great success because of the local host Larry and his intern Drew Johnson. The playground had a significant impact on the community and lives were changed both for the visitors and locals. |

Anita Dip's Playground was aptly named for Anita's father-in-law, who as a major sponsor of the project housed and fed the team. Samaritans Purse partnered with the Emmanuel Foundation to give out 300 Christmas shoe boxes. This playground was a first in bringing different religious, ethnic and economic backgrounds together around one project.
